A “touch screen” ready Linux?

While touch screen functionality is becoming “mandatory” in tech gadgets nowadays, Windows didn’t hesitate to incorporate this feature in its new baby Windows 7 OS. While this still remains hot, somewhere out there is getting ready for a big launch that might be a breakthrough in OS battle field. It is Ubuntu.

Ubuntu recently informed the media that their OS (version 10) will be shipped along with a cabability to provide “touch screen” feature in every machine it will be installed. While this might be the first rival of Windows 7 in touch screen OS (in PC’s), it looks like competition only benefits the consumers.

I am currently using SUSE version of Linux and so far I still prefer Linux-based systems in each consumer machines. But I can’t deny that I am used to Windows.

Using Linux during my self trainings, and VMWare self study, there’s a lot more power in Linux based systems. They are like the “black horse” in this field. Well, my favorites are Suse, Ubuntu, and Red Hat (of course).

Now the question is, will Ubuntu live up to the very high expectations of consumers? We’ll see.

Watch this nice video of a guy being dumped by the IT problems his company is facing. A best representation of what IBM can do for your organization.

What’s next in tech?

I can see some folks worked on “cloud computing” for gaming, central console for everything apps, new android phones, touch screen laptops, external portable drive that has lots of TB, and more. Technology scene seems to be exciting in this coming months. And with the Windows 7 rolling into most of us, we anticipate the realness of each “modern greats” until we touch them and see with our own naked eyes.

As many of you may already know, a new nokia “wifi enabled” phone will be released soon (in PH) and his name is C3. Checkout this link for specs: http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_c3-3269.php

Also I tested the new Windows Server 2008 system and I was impressed by it’s speed. Not to say it’s “old” like user interface. But the fact that it uses the “backbone” of Windows 7, then I’d say that Windows Servers could be the “King of Servers” in the near future.

Also can you imagine a Windows Server in your office and your client machine runs in Mac OS doing “everything” that a Windows 7 client does? Well that’s not coming in the near future. That’s just came from my “non techie” mind. See ya!

ACA 2011 is an event for Anesthesiologists around ASEAN (and around the world) that will happen here in our country. Their website was created last year by my friend (ERG WebDev) and I was tasked to integrate a payment gateway to its shopping cart to enable registrants to pay registration fees, and even purchase trips to top destinations here in our country. I had a great experience working on this project and I am glad to know that the integration went smoothly.

If you have questions about Payment gateway integration, shopping cart integration,  and alike please shoot me an email at mail@otepinnovations.com and I will be glad to answer your inquiries. Until next integration! Chiao!

The Hybrid of them all!

Last night I was reading my favorite Tech Magazine and I came across one of it’s article featuring this product. It WOWED me and it’s funny because the article was placed right after the famous iPad and it really helped me to appreciate its beauty. This is a notebook + iPad I would say. This is my first time to feature a video about a tech gadget because I want you all to see how it works as notebook and as a tablet gadget.

What I like with this one is the capability to restore your current windows once you move out the tablet from its base. Just like what you saw in the video. This is really a hybrid gadget! I wonder how much is this in Philippine market. But definitely this is one hell of a gadget! Kudos to Lenovo!
